2.5mm² angle sensor

Developed using Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology the new AAT001-10E angle sensor has been developed for applications such as: rotary encoders, motor shaft and knob position sensors.

The sensor is made up of an array of four TMR elements rotated at 90 degree intervals and connected in a bridge configuration. The output represents the sine and cosine functions of the magnetic field applied to the sensor. When this magnetic field is rotated above the sensor the outputs can be used to determine the resultant angle with an accuracy within 3°.

Due to the inherent high resistance of TMR devices the power dissipation of this sensor is approximately 30 micro watts at the highest supply voltage of 5.5V, which makes them suitable for low power applications.

With an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C this device can be used in many automotive shaft rotary position applications.
The part is packaged in a 2.5 mm x 2.5 mm x 0.8 mm TDFN6 surface mount package.

These sensors are now available from Rhopoint Components and samples are available for immediate evaluation.
