Isabellenhütte adjusted the resistance value (across a 200 µOhm–5 mOhm range), physical footprint, and terminal type of its BAC shunt platform so the part bolts straight onto the vehicle’s specific busbar geometry and reads accurately at the pack’s actual current level, removing the need for a separate current transformer. The same base shunt design is resized and re-valued differently for forklifts and e-scooters, which draw far less current than a full EV drivetrain. Integrated directly into an aircraft’s flight control yoke and rudder pedal assembly, measuring the actual forces a pilot applies when pushing, pulling, or banking the controls, both on the ground and in flight.
Stellar Technology modified two CLC910 load cells differently for each control point, the pitch/roll sensor was spline-mounted in stainless steel to fit directly into the existing yoke assembly, while the rudder/brake sensor was built from high-strength aluminium specifically shaped to fit into the customer’s standard rudder pedals without any modification to the pedal itself. Fighter jet and commercial avionics circuit boards, plus deep-space probe electronics, where components must operate reliably through extreme and rapid temperature swings from a hot desert runway to the cold upper atmosphere in seconds with zero opportunity for maintenance once deployed.
Standard catalogue foil resistors aren’t rated for this environment, so VPG tightened the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) to hold stability across a -65°C to +175°C range and applied a military/space-qualified package able to withstand launch shock, sustained vibration, and long-term radiation exposure. Without this TCR and packaging adjustment, resistance values would drift enough during thermal cycling to compromise flight-critical circuit accuracy.
