Who is Vishay Foil Resistors?

More than four and a half decades after its invention by physicist Dr. Felix Zandman in 1962, Bulk Metal® Foil (BMF) technology still outperforms all other resistor technologies available today for applications that require precision, stability, and reliability. Vishay’s unique, ultra-precision Bulk Metal Foil resistor products provide an extremely low-temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) and exceptional long-term stability through temperature extremes.
The Vishay Foil Resistors portfolio comprises products in a variety of resistor configurations and package types to meet the needs of a wide range of applications: discrete resistors and resistor networks in surface mount and through-hole (leaded) configurations; customised chip resistor networks; precision trimming potentiometers; and discrete chips for use in hybrid circuits.
In 2000, Vishay achieved a technological breakthrough with the introduction of Bulk Metal® Z-Foil. Products built on this revolutionary technology deliver an absolute temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of 0.2 ppm/°C. The lower the TCR, the better a resistor can maintain its precise value despite ambient temperature variations and self-heating when power is applied. Bulk Metal Foil resistors are essentially non-inductive (less than 0.08 micro Henrys) and not capacitive, providing a rise time of about 1 nanosecond, making it particularly suitable for high-frequency applications. Furthermore, its thermal EMF is less than 0.05 µV/°C making it particularly important for low-ohmic DC applications.
