Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) magnetic sensors utilise sandwich layers of ultra-thin ferromagnetic and nonmagnetic layers. The word “giant” refers to a large change in resistance in presence of the magnetic field, compared to other traditional magnetic sensors.
